LUCIEN ALBRECHT Alsace, France, Cuvée Cécile Pinot Gris
THE VINEYARD: Cuvée Cecile is named for Cecile Albrecht, one of the two daughters of Jean Albrecht. Maison Albrecht is a family owned and managed winery founded in 1425 now its ninth generation. The estate includes some of the most prestigious terroirs in Alsace including vineyards and monopoles in the Grand Crus Pfingstberg and several Clos, Clos Schild, Clos Himmelreich, Clos des Récollets. Lucien Albrecht’s vineyards are meticulously cared for.
HARVEST & AGEING: This finely crafted wine is made from old vine vineyards carefully selected at the time of harvest. This cuvée is dense and concentrated. The harvest is a manuel harvest and a slow soft pneumatic pressing. Fermentation last for three months. Aging “sur lie”. For the Pinot Gris, once a week they do a “batonnage” stirring of the fine lees.
WINEMAKER’S NOTES: This wine is rich and complex with ripe fruit flavor. It is an elegant wine with breed and finesse, hint of spices and rosewater. Grape Varieties: 100% Pinot Gris
